A minha secretária, Oslo by TemaHome

Two Things Everyone Should Have: a LBD and a BWS.

Home Office With Oslo | Clean, Feminine and Quiet.

Ainda estou a decorar o espaço. Quando acabado, partilho aqui as real photos.

Dressing Up The Walls | WALLPAPER.

Design Inspiration
This celebrated pattern is derived from a hand printed wallcovering that originated in the Decorators Walk collection during the early 1960's. Its colorful creatures take wing amid a black and white gesture drawing of twining foliage adding a summery touch to an interior.

Home Desk #4.

Form follows function | Function follows form - I argue that form and function should always walk side by side. This way we can achieve a different yet communicative piece of design to make the difference in a world of abundance. It could sound redundant though I think it's a subject to reflect further.

Anyway, this home desk by Nádia Soares is a good example of form and function hand-in-hand. Super functional and engaging, the Multi Storage desk is a successful mix of shelves and desk which beauty is enhanced by its function, meaning, it is your accessories of decoration, material memories and books that will personalize the product.

It's indeed a white canvas where you decide to start on a collage, don't you think?

Still Looking For The Right Home Desk #3.

I still haven't found what I'm looking for, a beautiful tinny home desk. These following two are quite nice.

This Scandinavian desk has everything I want: sleek design, small drawers and a nice wooden combination. Size wise would fit perfectly next to my table lamp.

What grabbed my eye on this one was indeed the wooden color and the top detail above the drawers. These are too wide, though the lack of handles and feet, as if it's floating, balance pretty nicely the design.
Check the lamp on the wall. Nice touch, isn't it?

Maybe soon I'll do a Flea Market trip. I have a feeling I'll find it there.

Home Desk #2.

Today I've decided what I'm taking to my new home. As I said, I'm very up to have a whitish space. Only one very old chest of drawers in wood (belonged to my granny) will be part of the scenario.

Though, I'm still missing a desk, a tiny desk to fit on a meter long wall in my living room. This one here by Anita Nevens is perfect for my laptop, my endless notebooks and colorful pens.

To make it more cosy, a pile of magazines next to it would do it, don't you think?

And on the other side, a plant! A plant with deep green leaves! Perfect.

Storage Ideas.

Yesterday, after a day at the beach, I started packing my things. Books mainly.
Today, after another day at the beach, I don't have enough energy to move boxes around, furniture and clothes, so I excused myself to surf on the internet to find some inspiration on how I am going to storage my things in a tiny living room. It's not going to be an easy job, I'm sure.

I like the mix and match colors and textures on this space, plus I am a big fan of boxes not only to storage but to decorate too.

Home Desk #1.

Today I started planning my new-to-be home. As I said, it's a very tinny space so I must plan very carefully what I'm going to take, what I'm going to leave behind and of course what I would love to buy to style in style.

As I always lived in fairly big spaces apart form my space in Notting Hill, I never felt the need to design or buy small furniture, which I find this time around.

This week, I went to a very nice gallery shop in London where they had in display a gorgeous vintage desk. Something very similar to this one with a drawer. It was just about perfect. Perfect to have it next to the smallest white wall on my living room which I imagine totally covered with a work-in-progress collage.

Color It Happy.

Some people like it monochromatic but I love it colorful. A house with color is always happier. It's daring. Energetic. Communicative with an elaborate language.

The key to choose the right ones? It's simple: Just make sure you chose the same hue.

Magazines Library.

As funny as it might sound, it took me a while to display my favorite magazines. I tried several ways with different objects to help it out. Finally I decided to use one of my Louis Ghost Armchair by Philippe Starck as a starting point. Here it is and I like it.

I know, calling magazines display a library could be a bit off, but you know, they are such an amazing source of information and inspiration that I like to think them as important as a books (not to mention, of course, some of them are more expensive than actually books).

Have an inspiring weekend surrounded by amazing magazines.

Books As A Decoration Statement.

Today I've started to plan my next little studio. Walls are already immaculate white waiting for my intervention.

Books display is an important feature in anywhere I live or work and these pictures I took early this month at Merci in Paris are a great source of inspiration. Always loved walls filled with books from top to bottom.

Next to a wall like this, specially if in your studio or living room, an armchair is a must have. What's better than seating comfortably with a cup of tea checking which books you need for your next project or what you're going to read next?

What's your most important feature where you work?

Sketching & Brainstorming My Living Room’s Layout.

I was very reluctant to post these sketches (because they’re not perfect) but then I thought: this is my style, the way I think, these are my sketches, although in my mind they’re always perfect.

Sometimes I wish I could sketch beautifully, with perspective, depth, colour, volume… those kind of sketches that look like photograph’s rather than drawings. But then I think “I can’t be good at everything, can I? I’m good doing other things like technical drawings, come up with concepts, starting projects, improve details, presenting ideas to clients, find the right furniture for interiors, among other little things.
So, these are sketches/ideas to change my living room/home office layout. As you can see they’re not in scale, which is something that drives me nuts, but I thought I should do it to challenge my comfort zone.

I have to say I haven’t measure my living room because I know if I did I would draw straight to autoCAD, but I promise I will update this post in scale (sometime soon).

I’m not sure if it’s better to get into the room straight to my ‘office’ or to my living space, as the first get’s very easily a bit messy.

I want to have my armchairs together, so this is not a good option. I wonder if I should leave it as it is… (1st sketch).

So, what are you good at? What would you like to be good at?

Restyling To a New Home Office.

This project was completed over four years ago, but every time I look at this space I feel it was just styled. The orange together with stainless steel balances the space.
Everything in here was part of another one in my clients’ previous house. There are a few things missing, like a classic button sofa in black, but I haven’t found the perfect one yet. Or maybe I did, but it’s a bit out of my client’s budget.

These black table lamps give the home office a nice touch: perfect form and colour, I think.

I’ve designed this desk right when I opened my first studio. I was pretty much inspired by stainless steel, exploring how “industrial materials and aesthetics” could be used in the domestic environment.
It was my working desk for a while, but my client had convinced me to sell it to her. I’m very happy she has it since.

The original desk top was in clear glass, but my client decided to change to smoked glass, as the previous deco was around brown and beige. That’s the beauty of stainless steel – it goes with everything without losing its personality!

The desk structure is designed in tubular steel contrasting the square and round tubes with one being half thickness to the other one. The material is quite powerful to speak for itself.
Desk designed in 2002.
