Art Walls

At this moment I have all my flat art either on the corner waiting to be hanged somewhere or rolled up inside a plastic tubes waiting for the right frame. I miss looking at them.

Dressing up walls is one of my favorite moments on styling a home. Here's a few inspiration pictures I've found online.

I like the clean aesthetics which give that serenity I like to feel in a bedroom.

A collage framed. Interesting, isn't it?

A good solution when we don't hang the frames on the right spot, is to fill the gaps with other things like jewellery.

I've a few photos I shot, though I'm not sure if I'm going to frame them or just glue them on the walls, something I do since I was a kid.

Tulle Is My Choice.

Fabrics are always a very important choice to make when it comes to the house. Silk? Velvet? Cotton? Taffeta? Tweed? What's the best fabric to let the room breath? What's the best texture to match the accessories? What's the warmest and fresher fabric for winter and summer? Have you thought of it?

I've always loved tulle. It's very sexy, yet elegant. Naive sometimes. So much to say about this delicate material.

I've spent a few days thinking what I am going to chose for my living room and finally decided - TULLE. I think it'll bring the romance and movement I'm looking forward to having in my new home.

Here's some of my moodborad pictures I want to share with you.

Home Desk #2.

Today I've decided what I'm taking to my new home. As I said, I'm very up to have a whitish space. Only one very old chest of drawers in wood (belonged to my granny) will be part of the scenario.

Though, I'm still missing a desk, a tiny desk to fit on a meter long wall in my living room. This one here by Anita Nevens is perfect for my laptop, my endless notebooks and colorful pens.

To make it more cosy, a pile of magazines next to it would do it, don't you think?

And on the other side, a plant! A plant with deep green leaves! Perfect.

Storage Ideas.

Yesterday, after a day at the beach, I started packing my things. Books mainly.
Today, after another day at the beach, I don't have enough energy to move boxes around, furniture and clothes, so I excused myself to surf on the internet to find some inspiration on how I am going to storage my things in a tiny living room. It's not going to be an easy job, I'm sure.

I like the mix and match colors and textures on this space, plus I am a big fan of boxes not only to storage but to decorate too.

White Is Growing On Me.

Times change and taste gets refined, maybe that's why white is growing on me.

More than ever I can see myself living in a white flat.

This one here is a nice inspiration. I love flowers and plants, they make spaces alive and fresh.

I've always loved to see white frames and canvas on white walls.

Chesterfield.

A Chesterfield is probably the most wanted sofa ever. A few years ago I was walking in Portobello Market in London and there was one for sell. Deep green. I'm sure many years old (as I like them), perfect size and the best price ever - £100. I didn't buy it! I just didn't have the storage space and it wouldn't fit in my space. Sadly I had to let go the bargain.

When I started looking for a flat, I imagined a certain space with a certain view and certain furniture. That green Chesterfield was on my moments of imagination. Maybe soon I'll find another one. Who knows?

Last week I shot this one at Heal's. It is quite nice too, isn't it?

Notes On Cheap & Nice Solutions.

What a nice idea for small bedrooms. Definitely something that I have to bear in mind.

Detail Detail Detail | Vespa.

They say the devil is in the detail. I say detail is the closest we can get to perfection. Not that I know what perfection is (or if it actually exists), but the feeling that something is finished and ready to be adored must be something very close to it.

Everything created, whether an object or a building, is a combination of minds: the one who sponsors it, the one who designs it and the one who makes it. Communication between all these individuals are sometimes misunderstanding, others misinterpreted and of course we all imagine it differently. What's idealized comes up different and it's the process that shapes and touches the details. Everyone adds perfection.

So why not come up with a signature on this blog about things I want to enhance the performance sometimes forgotten, specially in the design world?

As Vespas are so trendy nowadays, I've been looking at them in a different perspective. Now, look at this beauty and admire the push pedal, the (anti-slippery) rubber stripes and the center where you rest your feet while you drive? Isn't it so perfectly thought and made?

I think there's another detail that makes vintage Vespas so trendy - the color. We are all tired of dark and dormant shades. Color is energy and bright ones makes us alive and happier. This baby blue is synonymous to youthful, don't you think?

In design nothing is ever finished. Things change and what's perfect today might not be tomorrow. Aesthetics have different routes and surely different proposes and understandings. Though, I think if we communicate with our material surroundings we will for sure feel they're part of us, rather than the other way around.

Home Desk #1.

Today I started planning my new-to-be home. As I said, it's a very tinny space so I must plan very carefully what I'm going to take, what I'm going to leave behind and of course what I would love to buy to style in style.

As I always lived in fairly big spaces apart form my space in Notting Hill, I never felt the need to design or buy small furniture, which I find this time around.

This week, I went to a very nice gallery shop in London where they had in display a gorgeous vintage desk. Something very similar to this one with a drawer. It was just about perfect. Perfect to have it next to the smallest white wall on my living room which I imagine totally covered with a work-in-progress collage.
