Riscas elegantes | Elegant Stripes.

Love stripy accessories, both for interiors or fashion - it's timeless, elegant and versatile, isn't it?
A year ago I bought a few fabric meters at IKEA. Part of this fabric I used to line a plank of pine to make a hanger for my entrance hall and kept the spare to make a tote bag.
Finally put myself to work: designed de bag and asked my friend Dalila to sew it. Ready, grabbed the bag and took it to a leather shop to put the handles. It's been my favourite accessory for the summer, both in the city or the beach.
O mix de riscas largas e finas dá mais movimento ao saco, não dá?
Mixing large and thin stripes gives it more movement, doesn't it?
Adoro ver riscas com flores. Perfita combinação.
I just love stripes and flowers. Perfect combination.

Style It Well & You Have It All.

No outro dia vi um vídeo da Anna Dello Russo e a única coisa que me ficou na cabeça foi qualquer coisa do género "Fashion is not suppose to be comfortable". Não sei se estas foram as palavras exactas, mas foi a ideia que ficou cá dentro. Nesse mesmo instante desliguei o vídeo e confesso que não o vi até ao fim. Too "drama queen" & "fashion victim" for my taste.

Tokyo #3 | Japanese Textiles.

This is the type of shops I get lost very easily. Not that I spend a fortune, but I totally forget the world exists outside. I can be here for hours wondering what I could do with these gorgeous fabrics.

My sense of touch gets in action and here we go...

Didn't resist to get the one on the right. I've already a few options to do with it, but haven't decided yet:  to have it on my bed, to make a few cushions, to have it framed or maybe a padded panel on the wall.

Gorgeous collage, isn't it? The fabrics in the center (with rainbows) have an amazing texture and beautiful mix of colours.

Fabrics, beautiful fabrics everywhere.

A tip to make a nice Japanese handbag.
Maybe I'll pop in again today to get more inspiration.

Which Color Are You?

A year go I bet blue, Royal Blue, would be the color for 2010. I couldn't use it more, advised it more, wear it more than I did. Actually it's one of my very favorite colors in the rainbow. I feel very good and creative around it.

This year I'm totally inspired and amazed by green. Green like the trees leaves. It's a powerful hue. It brings joy, health (and wealth, as they say it's the color of the money) and a sense of freshness.

Again, I think it's a must with touches of gold, maybe black and white patterns if you're more minimalist or if you want to bring it down to earth, brown could be a good option too.

What about you? Have you chosen the color for this Spring?

If you think this shade of green is too much, you can always add a few details and the freshness, health and wealth will be there.

Forget Me Not by Coco.

Spring has arrived and I'm swapping wool & cashmere scarves by cotton & silk ones. Flowers are blooming, the sun is shinning and we want to wear accordingly.

Coco, the French Designer and Graphic Artist owns the label Forget Me Not, which has the most elegant scarves for this season. Shine yourself.

This scarf on a black top and jacket on a Friday office day is just the right accessory to welcome the weekend, isn't it?

Everything Yellow.

Lately I find myself liking everything yellow.

Black & White outfits, Black & White rooms and Black and White accessories is definitely my favorite personal color combination yet there's always a touch in a bright and bold color. And for this season I've chosen yellow.

Here's a few inspirational yellow details. Have a bright week.

With Eyes Wide Open.

When we like clothes and dress up is an important moment of the day, it's almost impossible (and silly) to avoid watching the most important fashion week shows, now that the internet makes the world so democratic.

I've watched a few, not all. Those that I know I can take some inspiration to enhance my very personal style. Though there's this one I can't get enough watching.

Prada Fashion Show a/i 2011 has the WOW factor. I don't think it's the best collection ever, but it's definitely the best venue ever. Levels, stairs, columns, the splash of yellow bringing down the upper level and the ceiling (and the music! perfect. dramatic. with the right rhythm.) There's so much going on here. It's amazingly engaging this fashion show. No doubts it's the best I've ever seen.

I find this whole performance reminding me "Eyes Wide Shut".

Dancing With Myself.

The seventies, Florence And The Machine and the movie Casablanca have been named as Frida's inspiration. It's indeed a great collection were wide trousers, dark yet bold colours and two bags make the wishful outfit. I could have it all - I see myself in every moment of this runaway show. Do you?

Next Fall it's going to be an happy season.

Fabulous Documents.

There's always someone with a word to say about my pen drive, my sparkling little object.

I love it. Totally covered in crystals (not Swarovski I guess) it flashes everywhere.

Sorry for the unfocused image, but to photograph crystal is quite tricky.

Clutch - An Object Of Art.

Some argue fashion is not art. Others think it is. I believe it is not, but object like clutches (pochette like the French say) have me wonder where exactly the boundary's drawn.

When Alexandre McQueen designed the first one of this range (which I saw in display in Harrods), I remember to tell a friend how that little shiny object with a skull as if it was the cherry on top of the cake had such huge impact on me. The only thing she said was "Go buy it". I didn't. Today every time I see one, I wonder if Luiza was right about the investment I should have done.

When you buy designers clothes or accessories, do you question the (financial) investment you're probably doing?

The Bearable Lightness Of Being.

Totally exited about tomorrow's New York Fashion Week I found a reason to post my favorite line for this Spring.

Totally inspired by this lightness by Chloé. Isn't it so chic?

"The Miu Miu Women's Tales" - The Powder Room by Zoe Cassavetes.

The Powder Room by Zoe Cassavetes is the first of "The Miu Miu Women's Tales", a series of short movies by international female filmmakers that explore their fantasies about the brand. Set in London's Claridge's Hotel, the short film explores the feminine rituals in the powder room.

When was the last time you enjoyed a Powder Room?

Dover Street Market.

Dover Street Market in London is a cult shop. Concept and Direction by Rei KAWAKUBO, she designed a space "where various creators from various fields gather together and encounter each other in an ongoing atmosphere of beautiful chaos: the mixing up and coming together of different kindred souls who all share a strong personal vision."

A space to inspire interiors and fashion I am sure.

Big names like Hussein Chalyan, Lavin, egg, Alaïa, Erdem amongst others, the best are all there.

Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion.

Astonishing exhibition at Barbican Art Gallery about avant-garde Japanese fashion from early 1980's to now. From space curation to the collections on display and videos on, everything was close to perfection.

"Japanese fashion design made an enormous impact on the international fashion scene in the late 20th century and designers such as Issey Miyake, Rei Kawakubo and Yohji Yamamoto redefined the very basis of fashion through their radical formal language, intellectual approach and ingenious reinterpretation of tradition. Their works are shown alongside Kawakubo's protégé, the techno-couturier Junya Watanabe, together with the acclaimed Jun Takahashi, and the new generation of radical designers including Tao Kurihara, Matohu, Akira Naka and mintdesigns." - Barbican Art Gallery

Exhibition curated by fashion historian Akiko Fukai, Director and Chief Curator of the Kyoto Costume Institute. I love the way he created a plinth for (almost) each costume on display. It recalls my final project at Central Saint Martins, which was about space curation.

Along with the plinths, walls of magic fabric recalling Japanese paper, defined the space giving a certain feeling of warmth and guidance.

This was indeed one of the best exhibitions I've ever seen.

The exhibition is co-organised by Barbican Art gallery and the Kyoto Costume Institute.
