BedRoom | New Approach.

Voltei a questionar tudo (a mente dum criativo é assim, sempre a questionar...).

Why not?

Conran is probably one of my favorite shops in the design business. Love the contemporary and relaxed approach to design and decoration.

Every time I visit one, I always feel the idea "design is not an option, it's the only choice you have" and I must say, I love it!

I love to watch people checking furniture out. Sometimes crazy questions pop up yet quite pertinent when you think about them. We all have different life choices and different habits, therefore furniture different needs.
Plates are the new paintings. Glassy finish the only option.
Huge coffee tables in wood finish is all you need at home. Your home parties appreciate.

Light wood is the new black.
When working at home is the option for many of us, a good desk and chair are the key for success. Though a lamp by Studio Ilse is the key for happiness.
White and silver plates on the wall to recall our grandmothers' home.

A great shelving unit, but if books are the main decoration, forget it. Not an option.

White on white.
More plates. More walls. More colour.

I've always loved everything about laundry, specially the smell of washed bed linen.

By Nord | Where Design Meets Nature.

One of the biggest pleasures I have in life is to sleep on smoth bed linen with a fresh scent. I definitely sleep much better!

At Rost  in Bergen I came across with this Danish brand called By Nord. Do you know it?

Art Walls

At this moment I have all my flat art either on the corner waiting to be hanged somewhere or rolled up inside a plastic tubes waiting for the right frame. I miss looking at them.

Dressing up walls is one of my favorite moments on styling a home. Here's a few inspiration pictures I've found online.

I like the clean aesthetics which give that serenity I like to feel in a bedroom.

A collage framed. Interesting, isn't it?

A good solution when we don't hang the frames on the right spot, is to fill the gaps with other things like jewellery.

I've a few photos I shot, though I'm not sure if I'm going to frame them or just glue them on the walls, something I do since I was a kid.

Vidago Palace.

And because it's Friday we all look for beautiful p(a)laces to enjoy what life has best to offer. Being with family and friends in places, or rather palaces, like Vidago, in north of Portugal is what I've been dreaming about for a while.

Originally opened in 1910, the Belle Époque Palace's been reborn under the guidance of Álvaro Siza who preserved the architectural heritage of the building so predominant in this country. The rooms have been decorated by José Pedro Lopez Vieira and Diogo Rosa La with four dominant colours recalling the nature of the region.

Have a calm weekend.

This is indeed my favourite one. Not sure if it's the colour or the wallpaper that grabs my total attention.

I always loved white door and window frames in contrast with bold wall colours. This shade of gray is simply stunning to enhance the calm wallpaper on the far wall, isn't it?

A bathroom as charming as it could be. Love the small floor tiles.

I find so elegant when the floor (or wall) is partially covered with patterns like this one. In this specific case, it enhances much more the tiles making them more special and decorative.

All these beautiful rooms inside this stunning piece of Portuguese architecture. If you haven't visited my country, I'm sure you're going to love it.

Sonia Rykiel Maison

As I've booked a seminar for tomorrow at the V&A about Paris, I thought it's a good opportunity to post about one of my favourite designers. I love Sonia's bright side of fashion, her frizzy hair and severe fringe - well, over all, I love her style.

When it comes to interior déco, I love the combination of bold, deep colours, always perfect to dress any bed or bathroom. Whether a minimalistic or more classic space, her accessories wrap up the energy.

From London To Lisbon.

Good news.
For a while I've been thinking about going back to Portugal. I feel London is no longer doing anything for me and truth to be told I miss my family and friends a lot. More than they probably can imagine.

Yesterday I finally decided to pack my British life and go back home, at least for now. We all know I'm always up for interesting challenges, so who knows what happens next?

I will indeed miss everyone in London and the amazing things always happening in this city, but within Europe is so easy to travel that I'm sure I'll be back often to enjoy (only) what London has best to offer.

Being an interior designer, there's something else I can't help stop thinking about: all my material possessions. It sounds very materialistic, I know, but I miss my books, house deco and furniture, especially the one I've designed. I'm sure they miss me too.

So, very soon I hope, I'll update you all with my new flat, which I hope to get in one of Lisbon's hills and the interior design project(s) I'll have in hands.
Stay tuned. Lot's too share.

My old bedroom in Portugal, in the flat I've sold a few years ago. Lot's of ideas to adapt the deco to my future new space.

Inspired By Dreams.

Aren't we all inspired by dreams?

Sometimes the simplest deco is the best way to pull together the energy we're looking for. These cartoons pinned on the wall (an habit I have since I first started to style my teenage bedroom) and the clouds hanging from the ceiling make this space so special and unique.

Kung Hei Fat Choi III.

Continuing our New Chinese Year celebrations, here’s more photos of my friend Isabel’s home, previously in Macau and now relocated in Portugal.

Bedroom. What kind of space is this?

What do you usually keep in there that normally you don’t keep elsewhere?
Who do you invite to come in?
What do you like to do in there that you don’t like that much to do elsewhere?
What’s the most secret thing you keep in there?
How big does a bedroom need to be to become perfect?
What do you first see in the morning when you wake up?
How do you style this space to be that special?

The green tone Isabel has chosen for her bedroom couldn’t be better: it reminds me bamboo, fields of bamboo. It embraces pretty well the dark furniture.

The bed headboard is (used to be) a screen. Perfect choice to give a new function to such beautiful object.

Beautiful asymmetric wardrobe design.

Isabel and I share many things in common and the attachment to object with history and stories to tell is one of them. Because of that I’m pretty sure someone very special gave this elephant to her.

I really like this little corner in the space. It’s as if in a different layer but well balanced.

I’m not sure where Isabel bought this chest of drawers, but it looks very much Portuguese: the style and the type of wood. Anyway, perfectly added in the space.

These spaces were styled between 2004 and 2009, both in London and Lisboa. Some of them still exist, others don’t.
I find in these photographs a fantastic source of colour, geometry, patterns and textures.

Ikea coffee table and plant. French hat. Favourite handbag. Habitat candels. Design, photography and fashion magazines.
