By Nord | Where Design Meets Nature.

One of the biggest pleasures I have in life is to sleep on smoth bed linen with a fresh scent. I definitely sleep much better!

At Rost  in Bergen I came across with this Danish brand called By Nord. Do you know it?

World Map Multitasking.

For some time, years actually, I've been occasionally looking for a World Map. I found a few but none of them were love at first sight, which is always the key to purchase anything I want and wish for.

The reason for such wait is that I want it to be both informative and very stylish. I can tell you, it hasn't been an easy task.

This first one is almost the one, and it's displayed the way I want mine to be.

I like the simplicity of this one, but that's it.

A classic with a touch of pink. Cute!

Love this one, though it's not informative enough.

Cool, but too artistic.

And this one, like the very first one, is very close to what I want. Now I just need to find it big and flat.

Have you ever found yourself in this position? You know what you want, you have it with all details in your head, but there's no way you can find it. So, you wait.

"Heart For Japan".

I'm sure we all think everyday about Japan and I'm sure we all want to help anyway we can. For the last days it's amazing the amount of designers, artists and other creatives who have given a bit of themselves for such cause.

Delphine Perrot touched me in a different way the others didn't. Just scroll down and read her story and motivations.

MARCH 2011
'I reacted very quickly to this event as I was in the Pacific and we got a red alert early in the morning.
When I got back home, I came up with the idea and drew this sign spontaneously.

Then I started to spread it to friends via internet and crossed my fingers this universal sign for love and support for Japan would find its way. It was like putting a bottle in the sea.

A big thank you to Claire Boyles, who played a key role by putting me in touch with Darren Leighfield.
I am very happy to have offered my picture to this emergency situation'.

If you have a blog or a website, keep spreading the word.
Thank You.

Dear Mother Christmas By Hermès.

This year I wish to have an Hermès Christmas. I wish to be an Orange Mother Christmas. I wish a stylish Christmas for everyone.

Here's a few ideas from Hermès Paris.

Aren't their illustrations so stylish?

I can relate each of my family members and friends with one object/item. The following ones are my very favourites. Style your house.
Cups for the perfect afternoon tea by the country porch house.

Mugs for the hot hot hot chocolate on a raining Sunday afternoon by the Manhattan window loft.

Ashtrays, whether on the walls as an objet d'art or as an objet dans l'utilisation, we all must have an Hermès ashtray. It's part of culture.

Frames to remember and share proud and lovely moments.

Correspondence Box for those rare letters we love to receive from the post man. If not, maybe to put those ones we once received from beloved ones.

Illustrations from Hermès Website.

New York City.

This week I'm away enjoying NYC (for the first time).
Lots to see, admire and photograph - I will share later on.
For now I leave a picture which caught my eye the moment I walked down Madison Avenue, and I pretty much relate to.

Have a stylish week.

Javier Mariscal @ Design Museum.

When it comes to exhibition design, Design Museum in London is one of the best. The space is always engaging, communicative and very inspiring.
“Mariscal - Drawing Life” is another perfect example. This exhibition is on for another week, until the 1st of November.

“I don’t think that it’s good idea to explain what is behind the drawings, to analyse them or try to justify them with theories. Nor do I think there is anything to understand; they can simply be looked at and enjoyed. Interpret them in the most personal way possible.” – Javier Mariscal

“Mariscal - Drawing Life consists of thirteen installations that explore the way in which Mariscal sees the world, and the ways in which he uses drawing.” – Design Museum

Shower Tunnel - An installation of 640 illustrated ideas that represent Mariscal's visual language from 1970 to 2009.

Editorial Curtains - Composition made using the instalments published by Editorial Salvat of the 'Diseño con Mariscal' encyclopaedia, designed and directed by Estudio Mariscal.

Letters Wall - A typographic composition built using original pypefaces by Mariscal.
Visual Identities - A collage made from deconstructing the visual identities for post-production and FX company, Framestore; the bank, Bancaja and the America's Cup sporting event.
Editorial Curtains - Composition made using The New Yorker, El País Semanal and Apo magazines published between 1990 and 2004 with covers designed by Mariscal.

Interiors & Other Interventions - A video-collage made using images of the Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao, the Metropole cafeteria and the Splash & Crash bar, the Ikea restaurant, the H&M shop and artistic interventions.

Joie de Vivre - A visual allegory of the joy of living (Barcelona, 2009) represented as an installation of fragments from the Mediterranean coastline.
(My note: the rug was designed by Mariscal to Nanimarquina , my very favorite rug company)
